Is Romance dead?

Everyone sees romance differently.

It might be letting a girl go through a door first, it might be sending flowers, it might be sending a text to let them know your thinking of them. In the age of technology we live in it doesn't take much for people to let another person know whats on their mind.

But with this age of technology and openness there seems to come a darker side.

The side of the internet where teenagers are bombarded with images of sex, where adverts for adult chat rooms and page three model backgrounds are advertised alongside tescos on websites. Where young girls are emailed by strangers with disgusting sexual requests with no regards to their mental well being. Where people can request pictures and total strangers can see any pictures posted.

In a world that is more open than it was even a mere 10 years in terms of talking about sex the idea of with-holding details of your sex life from friends seems almost daft. With so many people openly discussing it it can make it seem like such a normal part of life and for people in stable mature relationships that's fine but when young teenagers see older siblings and people they respect bragging about how many people they've slept with it puts a pressure on them that wasn't there before.

What happened to when a boy could be sweet for the sake of it without him having an angle or wanting something in return?

What is wrong with just wanting to make a girl smile or laugh. Sending daft little texts to let them know your thinking of them, recommending music that they may like. Even just taking the time to ask them about they're day. I don't want to make it sound like all guys are only after one thing, but sometimes i wonder....
