Things I love thursday 29/09/11

- Getting my time table sorted out so now i actually know when I'm in Uni which makes me feel much less stressed, plus im only in like 2 days a week if you ignore the couple of hours every second Friday

- Painting my nails when I'm not in work to remind myself i don't need to work that day, currently they are french manicure

- Realising i was wrong and being able to apologise without the other person making too big a deal out of it

- Unseasonably warm weather, it was 23 degrees yesterday at the end of September, SEPTEMBER!!

- Squeaky guinea pig, lets you know you're loved.

-Finishing a book - Finished two this week i think so powering through my 50 book challenge

- Making videos

-The Philip DeFranco show, news in bite size chunks - check him out on youtube "sxephil"

- Catch Up's: Seeing everyone after the summer is rather good.

- Sitting in silence: It sounds stupid but being able to sit with someone and not have to talk is a very strange thing but also rather good.

- Harry Potter-esq lecture rooms.

-Getting lost in the rabbit warren of Royal College and then realising where you are.

Quick catch up of what the hell is happening in my life atm.

Had my first day back at Uni today which was an early start that wasn't much fun but wasn't too bad once i got going. Got to see a few familiar faces from first year and a couple of people i vaguely know from tutorials from first year said hi which was kind of cool - going to make more of an effort this year and be social if it kills me basically. Had a two and a half hour gap during which there was a distinct lack of cheese toasties and a lot of refreshing to try and book a half decent tutorial slot which i eventually succeeded in doing so that isn't too shabby. There seems to be group work again this year which is sort of a pain cause you dont know who you'll get in your group but kind of good for the same reason - new opportunity to meet people. Got in introductory lecture tomorrow for the most pointless class on the planet so that will probably be a complete waste of time, effort and money but you never know i might surprise myself.

Feel like Ive been really busy recently so since im getting up tomorrow for just the one daft class and i have no work or anything at night i will be taking full advantage of the time and doing some much needed "getting my life in order". Basically fun things like cleaning out the pig, cleaning my room, doing a food shopping, doing some paperwork and probably spending the ass kicked out of a full pay check on uni books.

So yeah at the moment thats pretty much life - nothing all that exciting really.

Book Number 2

Started book number two of my 50 book challenge, powering my way through them while im off uni cause i know as soon as i go back its going to go by the wayside a little bit although at the moment for semester one at least i think i may have two days off which isnt all together to shabby.

50 Book Challenge

Nearly finished the first book in my challenge and its not about wolves or vampires, probably going to be a rarity in this challenge as i have a lot of them to read. Its actually been a really good book. Once Ive read a few i was thinking about doing a video review of say 5 at a time - what do you think ?

Square Eyed

Finally catching up with all the telly Ive missed. Watched all of doctor who so now im up to date with that im starting on the xfactor.

Bought this in france

This terrified me when i was younger but i bought it in France and it well needs watched with friends and a massive bowl of popcorn.

This is going to be me in about 5 seconds...

I need one of these....

Just found a box of scarves that i kind of forgot i had plus i have loads hanging over a coat hanger. Could also use it for my ever expanding collection of tights.

Its a day that should be remembered!!

Book Challenge

So i have a lot of books Ive bought but not read yet so when i stumbled upon the fifty book challenge i thought it would be good motivation to get reading. Started book number one two days ago and already 100 pages in. Its really starting to get good.

Feel Good Friday

Big things that are just awesome:

Getting back from France and seeing my mum and dad in the airport was fairly awesome. I think the amount of traveling i did this summer as well has given me a longing to explore more of Britain. I mean i live here yet I've barely seen any of it. Since i can drive now as well there really isn't a reason not see it. A road trip may be in order next summer when the weather starts improving more.

Still having my job. I was kind of worried that since management had changed back home my job wouldnt be waiting for me when i came back. I know ive said it countless times but it is true that i love my job. Yeah i do have shifts where i just want to go home but the majority of the time i love what i do and i'd like to think i do it well.

University starting back soon. Geeky as hell i know but im really looking forward to going back to University and hopefully meeting loads of new people. I keep telling myself I'm going to make a consious effort this year to talk to more people and be social.

Having my car back. I honestly dont know how i survived before i could drive when i was in France and in the middle of know where i missed wee zero so much cause i was independant i had to get lifts places if i wanted off site which was a pain in the ass.

 Little things that add up to Awesome:

Getting a charger for the ipod shuffle i acquired this summer

Hearing Jeff making happy guinea pig noises again after looking all sorry for himself when i first came home

Making nice food that ive never made before and it working first time

First trip to KFC !

A propr duvet - an unzipped sleeping bag and blankets just doesnt cut it.

Finally feeling like I'm getting somewhere with cleaning my room out.

I did not realise how much my freckles had came out on the top of my nose till i saw this picture. Summer in the sun will do that to you i guess

Its been a year today since i learned the hard way why i should speak up for myself. Why i shouldn't be afraid that what im going to say is going to make me unpopular if i know its the right thing to say. Why i shouldnt ignore a gut instinct. Im just thankful im hear to have learned from my stupid lack of judgement. The people around me on that day and the days that followed have no idea how amazing they are. They held me together. Thankyou

I made egg fried rice and *gasp* it was actually edible!! Fair enough it wasn't amazing, maybe because i had it on its own but it was pretty good for a first attempt.

Whyyyyyyy

Was rather bored this morning and since ive barely worn any make-up for the last couple of months i decided to try out very dark eye makeup expcting to look really odd but for once it worked perfectly. Why does that only happen when your not actually going anywhere?

Im dreaming of a white christmas!

I think because ive gone from lovely sunny weather to cold wintery weather with nothing in between its messed up my internal calender because ive been over come with the feeling of christmas. I cant wait to start buying christmas presents and stomping around in the snow to and from uni. Seeing the christmas lights go up in george square and spending evenings all curled up inside while the weather is all crappy outside. I dont know whats come over me but im full of good feelings.
I dont know if its the christmas spirit or not but today i have been relentlessly happy. Had a bit of a long lie which i didnt mean to indulge in but hey ho and then had a lovely breakfast of bagel with cream cheese and spent the afternoon cleaning out the guinea pig and making a start on gutting my room. It may take some time to complete this epic task as everytime i move something i need to start cleaning somewhere else to move rubbish to but i feel like im starting to get somewhere, as the growing pile of junk on my landing can prove.
Well done if you got to the end of this very mixed up post, its half one and im tired dont expect too much of me.

Ive been wanting to do a keep calm thing for ages and never thought of cutting it out rather than drawing it but that looks rather good.

Luvage of tea to follow?

I feel i should at least try tea, give it a go, then decide if i do or dont like it. Any suggestions on what type of tea ?

Its not often this happens but

Blogger has recently updated its used interface for when you post links and i think its the first time a website has updated and Ive instantly preferred the new version. Its just sooooooo much simpler. I think I'm in love with who ever designed this - its so straight forward and simply laid out.

Amazon - The taker of all my pennies

Been back less than a week and already i have succumbed to the addiction that is Amazon. Bought Forever which is the third book in a series I've been reading and two more random books i found and bought pretty much because the covers are awesome looking. The bit that makes it worse is that two out of three of these books were actually cheaper on kindle (makes a change) but i wanted the pretty cover art too much to digitally download.

Peacefulness

What im doing right now may be the most chilled out thing ive done in a very long time

Sitting on bed with my laptop blogging and browsing other blogs while watching The Covenant eating cookies and drinking hot chocolate while Jeff charges round my bedroom floor. Oh and the only light i have in my room is coming from my fair lights. Now that is chilled.

August Consumption

Been very busy on my little foreign adventures but still found time to enjoy some media. So here is a little run down of what ive watched, read and listened to recently.

Movies I've Watched

Pearl Harbour - Had this on my amazon wish list for ages and finally got round to watching it while in France on a very cold day off. I sat in Hannahs tent and cried my eyes out along to the film which although as a whole isnt the best film in the world does have genuinely touching parts that make you truely feel for the people who experienced the horrendous events that unfolded that day.  

Sex and the City 2 - I know I'm almost ashamed of myself for having watched this and what makes it worse was that i actually enjoyed it. In fairness though it got pretty dam cold at night out there so it was nice to curl up with a big thick blanket and eat amazing French chocolate.

Black Sheep - This shouldn't have been as funny as it was but it was a horror film about a possessed sheep and when someone was bitten by said possessed sheep they themselves turned into a sheep and at the end the dog baa'd. What more could you want from a weird ass horror film.

Letters to Juliet - Only saw the first half so i now feel like i should beg, borrow or steal a copy so i can see how it ends even though it shows you some of the mushy ending stuff in the trailer.

Tristan + Isolde - Kind of lost track of the thin plot this film had, he was hot she was kind of hot two hot people prancing around in a romeo and Juliet fashion - she's Irish, he's English, it can never be.

Books Ive Read

Once Bitten - An interesting if not slightly "really that's the ending" book about a vampirish creature that isn't a proper vampire in a bite and suck kind of way anyway. Was like 89p for the kindle and kept me occupied for a few days so its all good.

The basement - Oh my god this book was good. Considering it was one of the cheapy books for kindle i wasn't expecting great things but Jesus it was good. Kept me gripped right till the very end and got me instantly searching for more books by the same author and of the same thriller type genre. Did not see that ending coming is all i can say really. 

The Darkest Secret - The latest book in one of my favourite series. Not my favourite book so far in the series (cant wait for the next one) but again it kept me entertained for a good few days 

Music Ive listened to

Cher Llyod - Swagger Jagger Yip it makes me sad to realise that i have listened to and enjoyed this rubbish but its just so catchy especially when you're charging around the french countryside singing it full blast in a VW Golf. 

Adele - Set fire to the rain When your on a campsite where it does rain a large chunk of the time you need to make light of the situation so this song was often blaring around the live area. Its just such a good belt it out and pretend you can actually sing tune. My only piece of advice would be not to do it while cleaning a tent - they have zero sound insulation. 

The Kooks - Tick of Time I never thought I'd like something by the kooks but this is a very catchy tune that just sounds rather upbeat, even down loaded it for my ipod. 

The crazy dance - A campsite mashup of loads of songs including some old eurovision, some weird french stuff, shakira and the cartoons (8) hey witch doctor give me the magic words. Alright you go oh eh, oh ah ah, ting tang walla walla bing bang (8). It had its own dance routine and everything. I tell you once you've done that a few times a day you dont need zumba anymore. 

Chicago Soundtrack  Full blast singing along on demo with Hannah cleaning the grossest caravan i saw all season, that was a good afternoon.

 

 

Guess who i worked for this summer....

Arty Farty

Been back a day and already spent some time hot glue gunning crayons to canvas then making art. I think it worked really well, proper fond of how it turned out.

Im home and unpacked cause basically everything in my suitcase needed washed cause my tent was damp so everything smelt funky. Now that im back i barely feel like ive been away its so odd.

Going to attempt to be productive tomorrow by getting up at a half decent time, seeing if i can make an appointment at the vets for Spud to get his nails cut and his skin looked at, popping into work for some brief training about the new pizzas and the like before i start back proper on tuesday and then gutting my room in the afternoon. I seem to be gathering more and more rubbish that i dont need again, specifically clothes most of which dont fit.
